Arnold Hokanson is a lifelong resident of North Central Montana, and a retired rancher. He is a cowboy poet, and storyteller. He has made many appearances in that capacity, including appearing as a featured poet at the International Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Elko, Nevada. He and his wife Joy reside on their Bear Paw Mountain ranch located thirty-five miles from the nearest town. Many of the incidents referred to in the story, have been taken from actual incidents experienced by the author. His short stories and columns have been published in a number of publications across the west.
